We want students at SWCHS to love learning. As such, we offer a curriculum which is not only broad and enriching but that seeks to stretch and inspire students. We understand that every child is different and so we draw on our knowledge of their strengths and weaknesses to provide them with high quality information, advice and guidance to inform their curriculum choices at GCSE and A Level and to ensure a seamless progression through the school.
Statement of British Values
At Saffron Walden County High we recognise our important role in preparing our students to be positive and engaged citizens in our multi-cultural and multi-faith country. Schools are required to ensure that key ‘British Values’ are taught in all UK schools. These values are identified as:
- The Rule of Law
- Individual Liberty
- Mutual Respect and also Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
These values are addressed in lessons, in our PSHEE programme, in our assembly programme and through our Community Code. We also invite external speakers to come in to speak on some of these vital issues on occasions such as our Year 9 Politics Day. We audit our provision to ensure all students can develop a thorough understanding of these values and their importance to modern Britain.
